Geektastik on PR 2.0

Monica Betancourt of the Max Borges Agency spoke on Wednesday night about PR 2.0 and Social Media. Her presentation with notes are on Flickr. In particular, see her slide and notes on “What to do: I’M MOCA” with an explanation of the acronym.

The question and answer session was animated and instructive, and covered many topics, including:
- How to get PR firms to understand Social Media, particularly if you’re new to the firm;
- How can organizations best respond to what’s being said about their products on the web and how best to “control” the conversations;
- Is is possible to conduct PR in SecondLife;
- What about paid blogging activities, like payperpost;
- The misuse of fake profiles and fake blogs;
- Creating and interacting with communities;

It was good to meet people from the UM PRSSA Chapter.

UM SoCWe would like to thank Kim Grinfeder for hosting us, for getting the word out at UM and for providing us with top-rate meeting space at the School of Communications.

Thanks also to Brian Breslin for organizing the event.

  1. Thanks very much for everything. I really enjoyed the Q&A as well, and I’m looking forward to Barcamp Miami.

    One comment – I spell my handle geektastiK, because geektastiC is another person who blogs once a month about her husband and how hard it is to shop for pants (really).

  2. LOL. Ok, fixed ;)

  3. [...] Mike and I enjoyed the January meeting of RefreshMiami. Monica Betancourt spoke about PR 2.0 and social media and then led a question and answer session. [...]
